Vintage Kuchi Tribal Amulet Necklace
This vintage tribal Kuchi handcrafted pendant is from Afghanistan. The pendant is made of metal alloy and silver and inlayed stone from the region of Afghanistan.
"Kuchi", is an Afghan Persian word meaning those who go on migrations. Kuchis are Pashtun nomads who have maintained their traditional nomad lifestyle for more than 3000 years. Kuchis lost their flocks and livelihoods due to drought and war. Most of the Kuchi people have no choice but to make their homes in the hot, unfamiliar plains of Iran and Pakistan. Today Kuchis find it hard to earn enough to start new flocks. This vintage pendant was been beautifully handcrafted and shows just how much hard work was put into it. There is some wear and one missing stone. (Right, middle) Tribal jewelry is worn as both an adornment, a sign of wealth, status within the group and for spiritual protection. This one of a kind necklace is constructed with Ethiopian metal beads, vintage Kuchi coins, blue painted wooden heshi beads, silver heshi beads and red turquoise heshi beads. It is finished with a silver hook clasp.
